The Safety Pin as a Fashion Icon

     Dressing as a social art is undoubtedly one of the most complete expressions in history, we find in its different presentations iconic and representative facets of the moment, although it is true that music and fashion go hand in hand, however they continue to have objectives different.

      Among many of the aesthetic elements of the punk movement we achieve the massive use of the safety pin also known in my country as "alpita" in fashion catwalks, commercial proposals and a basic in alternative clothing, it is known as one of the symbols associated with rebellion. most important in the conception of punk, originally its destiny is to secure cloth diapers, who would have imagined that in the 20th century the meaning of this accessory would be reformed.

     At the end of the 60s, when punk began to take shape, the "anti-fashion" young people began to place these pins on their torn t-shirts as a method of mending, this element not only went through fabric but also the tissues of the body 'Piercings', managing to revolutionize the sewing and fashion time of '77 in the United Kingdom.
